i sat on a bike with 2 other girls when i was in hanoi last december, in the middle of winter. It was quite an experience for me. I don't usually ride bikes, whatmore without a helmet and squeezing with 2 others and I was freezing my butt off! But I loved every minute of it!
That's worse than Naples! When I lived in Florence, I'd go visit my family in Naples every weekend, and they rode their scooters on the sidewalks, into stores. Even when the light was red, everybody kept going. The first time I went it took me about 15 minutes to gather up the courage to cross a street.
Great write-up on the traffic situation in Vietnam! I'm wondering if there are any proposed solutions such as public transit? That seems to me to be the only hope in cutting back on congestion.
Thanks for all comments, as my topic, traffic in Viet nam is a night mare even for Vietnamese. junebee, sorry, I dont think we have Harley here in Viet nam :)

Maybe if I ever go to Vietnam I'll ride a Harley!
I ride a motorcycle and I don't think I'd like to ride in a city where nobody obeys the traffic lights...I would feel to vulnerable.
