Sweet In Ho Chi Minh City

Sweet in HCM City

It's common to see motorcyclists pull up on the side of the road and have a quick cold drink then drive away in Ho Chi Minh City. There are so many different kinds of juices, fruit juices and soft drinks.

Different flavors of agar agar with ice is a good sweet from the south.

Walk along the street and eat a heart shaped hot cake, it's a classic!

Hot sweet che in the market is always great! Ben Thanh market is my favorite place for this.

Sweet in HCM City

Steamed banana with coconut milk sauce and fried sesame seeds on top - Oh my god!!!

Sweet in Ho Chi Minh City

Cooked Bean and sticky rice with coconut milk sauce- a real Saigonese sweet.

Sweet in HCM City

Coconut milk sauce seems popular for many sweets in Sai Gon, but this sweet is of mixture of some special leaves and some sweet potatoes.

yummy. I'd like to try all of them:).
You'll find roadside eats in bangalore too, but they're not so safe and hygienic.

At a Vietnamese restaurant, I ordered mixed nuts for dessert. I thought it would be a bowl of salted nuts, like Americans have at parties.

Instead, it was some nuts in a glass with some ice and I think some soda water. It was good and I can see where that would be refreshing in the hot Vietnam summer.

The banana and sesame seeds looks good.

I love agar agar. I also like it when there are two layers- one coconut and one plain. Yum.

Shauna--I saw what you wrote before I saw your name and I was thinking, wow, I was going to write the same thing about how we used to eat the plain/coconut flavored one when we lived in Saigon!

oooh... yummy.... thanks for sharing the photos and your descriptions always make my mouth water!

Steamed banana with coconut milk and friend sesame seeds sounds and looks so yummy but I have never seen that here in Vancouver. Next time I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, I will ask and see if they could make it!

Thanks for sharing :)
