Fishing

Fishing West Lake

Fishing is a popular hobby in Hanoi, especially around West Lake. Lots of people sit by the lakeside try to fish with their bamboo fishing rods.

The most common fish caught is anabas in these lakes. I have sat watching them a few times and I couldn't believe how many fish they actually catch. I'm not sure that I would eat these fish as the lakes in Hanoi are quite polluted but lots of people do. Anyway, this is a relaxing thing to do on the weekend to release stress or simply pass the time.

Hi~
I love your blog, I LOVE to see all of the pictures.
I have some questions for you. Some of them might sound kind of dumb but I'm just trying to learn as much as possible about Vietnam and Vietnamese culture.
We're planning on adopting a baby from Vietnam sometime this year and I am making her a scrapbook of information about Vietnam. Is there anything in paticular about Vietnam that you think I should include in the scrapbook?
Also at what age do children learn to use chopsticks in Vietnam and how do you teach them?
Also do you know any certain poems or songs that most young children in Vietnam are taught? If so could you send them to me?
Thanks!!!
Heather

I don't fish; but it seems like it should be a relaxing hobby. I do enjoy spending a day at the Jersey shore though.
