Ho Chi Minh City's Cafe

Coffee shops in Ho Chi Minh City are very big and all look expensive due to the huge competition down there. Cafes try to outdo each other with decor to attract customers. The owners think that if they don't have the best shop then nobody will come.

Cafe in Saigon

In Viet Nam, people eat quite fast in restaurants or at home but they spend hours in coffee shops chatting with friends. Saigonese not only drink coffee when they go to coffee shop, though. They have plenty of options to choose from, including mixed juices, heavy liquor and cocktails. Some places make really good cocktails and some places make good juices. I can’t drink coffee a lot so that I usually choose fresh passion fruit or lemon juice.

MTV Cafe

In Saigon recently, I drank lots of coconut juice because the naturally sweet coconuts don't seem to be available in Hanoi and they cost triple the price. I love to simply drive around and stop at a coconut stall right on the street, ask for a cold one and drink it 100% in one go, and keep driving. Such a good summer drink.

cafe in saigon

@ Cafe, Napoli cafe, MTV cafe, Highland cafe… are the most popular in Saigon at the moment. They’re all in good locations and beautifully fitted. Some of these cafes also serve good value office lunches.

Hi there! The thought of fresh coconut juice just makes my mouth water! I've never seen liquor served in coffee shops in the US, but I have often wished it so! How I'd love to put a little kick in my coffee. ;)

don't drink coconut selling on streets or pavements you cross, they're injected artificial (or chemical) sugar!!!
yeap, Highlands cafes are nice places and i luv its western cakes. MTV, huh, it's not in my list coz the "cafe'ers" are too chaotic and, well, showing off too much! If you like Highlands, try once Gateau cafe', it's just opposite Highlands Metropolitan, such worthy place for enjoying western cakes where former Canadian consulate usually comes...

Hey Vietnamese God -- I'm a graduate student in the US hoping to do a project on Vietnam's cafe culture. It looks like you're familiar with the topic and have a lot of experience frequenting cafes! If you would be willing to share any of your experiences (anything about the decor in your favorite cafes, the people who frequent the cafes, the menu selection, etc) just drop by my blog or drop me a note! www.kopidimana2.blogspot.com (sorry I can't post as a Blogger -- I use Beta Blogger and Google hasn't updated this feature yet). Cheers!

Hey hopefully you get back at me soon! I am so curious to what you do? or who you are? Vietnam really interests me. I've traveled there this summer. My father remarried a lady from Rach Gia. She's pretty wealthy and beautiful? I had a blast there, could've been better if more of my friends were there. So yeah I hope to get intouch with you soon.
