Hanoi City Complex, A 65 Storey Building

Ha Noi 65storey building

Hanoi will have Vietnam's tallest building ever with 65 floors comprising offices, apartments, a shopping centre, supermarket, cinema, health care centre and car park. The complex is expected to be located at the corner of Lieu Giai and Dao Tan streets in Ba Dinh district in Hanoi. It will cover an area of 14,094 sq m, and will be 195 m high. The total investment capital is US$114 million and it will be finished after 3 years meaning it will be in use before 2010 to celebrate Hanoi's 1000 years anniversary. Is it a good idea?

I'm all for moving forward, but I like Hanoi's relatively flat skyline; I'm worried that it's going to become ugly and lose its charm, like BKK or Saigon. Taller does not = more modern; look at Paris!

It's a rather plain and industrial-looking building, judging by the drawing.

I want an organised skyline...all the tall buildings schould be only allowed in Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Dong Da and some parts of Ba Dinh...the rest schould be protected, especially the french quarter in Ba Dinh, Old Quarter, the villa zone in Tay Ho and the cultural center Hoan Kiem. Ok, thats all ^_^

Hanoians--I totally agree with you. Do you think there a chance they'll be smart about it?

I've never been to Hanoi (one day I will), but Hanoi in my mind is surrounded with old and unique architectures. Whether this landmark will blow a new breeze to Hanoi, I doubt it. There are two inner voices of mind:
- great! Hanoi is changing
- sigh! They are just breaking up the the "Hanoi style"

65 storeys? highest building in Vietnam? 125$ per sqm??? here in hcmc there are attempts to build the "highest" building in vietnam. height= 65 storeys which are suprisingly 300m high! think u have some misinformation. one more thing: there is no contractor in vn who is capable to build such a building, and the foreign companies won`t establish an office just for a "medium size" building!
PS: a sqm for such a building is around 1000$...
